Teacher Forums

Grand Connections School / College / Work Initiative invites teachers, department heads and guidance counselors to an informative session to learn more about the links between college programs and high school courses.

Discover the various pathways that Conestoga College offers in various programs leading to excellent career opportunities.
This is information you can take back to your classes to help motivate the students in your subject area, as well as better inform them of the pathways open to them at Conestoga College and beyond. The day can also help you make connections with Conestoga faculty and provide information about possible tours of this first rate institution in your own back yard.

We also encourage Principals to join us for this forum, to obtain a better understanding of the School / College / Work Initiative as well as the diverse programs offered at Conestoga College.

Our Forums for 2011/ 2012

Business and Health Forum - Doon Campus April 4, 2012

This interactive day will be specifically designed for Business, Science and Health teachers in high schools. Most high school teachers are shocked to find out that Conestoga trains 53% of all health care workers in the Region, playing a vital role in the well-being of the local population. This day provides teachers information on the various pathways Conestoga College offers and the value of the business, health and science courses they are teaching their students. Through this, the hope is to create a valuable two- way feedback between college and high school faculty in order to better prepare students for post-secondary pathways.

Engineering/Math Forum - South Campus February 15, 2012

This interactive day will be specifically designed for engineering technology and math teachers in high schools. Encouraging students to take math in high school is important to high schools and colleges. We will discuss strategies of how to encourage students to consider enrolling in engineering and math. We will set a two way dialogue between college faculty and high school teachers to discuss college expectations and share what happens at college. Increasing awareness of college programs, and explaining why high school curriculum is relevant to post-secondary pathways, our students will be better prepared to meet the challenges of post-secondary programming.
